in which calvin dictate's the vacation's highlights ...
on our vacation gary and karyn and mary and shannon and mark came over. we played with them and had lots of fun. we had a big easter party and ate some easter stuff like strings and cokes we had lunch also. we hid some easter eggs, well actually shannon did and i tried to find them with carter. they weren't just regular white eggs, they were easter eggs that were colorful and we used food color to make them. then shannon hid them and that's all. we had lisa and meredith and logan and jake and their parents and we played and carter played on the computer because he doesn't like little kids and he didn't play with us.
after that we went to the jardin de tuileries and jumped on the trampolines. we went to the air and space museum with logan and jake, we went all by bus. we saw a plane that has a pointy noise but i don't remember the name. we had some lunch, well not that lunchy but you know what, it's very sweet, a sweet lunch, candy and gaufres (waffles) chocolats. the next day we went swimming, it was very nice, it was a shallow pool at boulogne and there's a not that shallow pool there also and an inside outside pools and i swam all the way to the edge!
we took a tgv to la baule and a taxi to the hotel that's way in front of the beach. i swam, well i didn't swim actually, and i went to the beach and made a big moat, digging digging all the way to the ocean! what if we dug all the way under the ocean? i took showers at the hotel too, and there was no bath that's true, but you know what, the shower was so funny it was covering the bathroom and the potty was right next to the shower! we played boules, ping-pong, and velo, that means we rode bikes. i had an omelette, maybe four or i think five or six, i love them, i love them so much that i ate too much. i had two boules de glace (scooops of ice cream) every time!
after we got back we played and you know what i have here? crowns and stuff did you see that? i don't if that's all. oh yeah, yesterday we swam at the pool with ben and simon and i did some digging we were trying to make a hideout, not for the adults you didn't even see it. we were digging so hard and hid a golf ball and it was so fun it blew my head off like the swedish chef. today we had lunch you know where at les ormes because we wanted to go there and carter was cooking and now we're typing an email for the computer and for our friends.
bye bye. ileveu calvin

At the air & space museum
(Note: link fixed, thanks Michelle)
Here we are at the Musée de l'Air et l'Espace. It's off the beaten track, but we had a very nice time on a beautiful day with my friend David and his boys Logan and Jake.

Look for the beauty
Anybody want to get the old video cam back in operation and see the boys? Not today, since they're in bed, but sometime while they're on break (the next two weeks)?
Speaking of beauty, this article from the Sunday WP was really moving and interesting. If you geek on it the way I did, check out the follow-up chat too.

vacation
(dictated to dad, because he just typed it all up and the computer ate it. some lessons are hard.)
dear everyone,
today we went out to the champ de mars (it's a park in paris near us) and we biked for an hour and a half! i did like 10 times around a big fountain, like more than 3 kilometers total. calvin did a really good job. he had his training wheels on when we went out, but we took them off and he learned to ride, pedal, turn, get going, stop, get on and get off! he said "this is the greatest thing in the whole world!"
and i kicked a pigeon in the butt.
so that's we did today. now it's off to a late dinner and maybe some of a movie before bedtime.
carter
(from dad: we had a great time with gary & karyn visiting last week from arlington, and this weekend with betsy's cousin shannon and her husband mark visiting. they've already been to germany and amsterdam, and leave here tomorrow for italy via switzerland. tomorrow night we will have a small get-together to celebrate easter, betsy's easter monday holiday, and the two-week school holiday that just started. next saturday we head to the ocean for four days, but we'll talk to you more before then.)
