How the Map Changed From 2004
This is a really neat analysis by the NYT (boo, liberal media elite!) of county-level changes to presidential voting. Even all those unpopulated counties that are still red are trending blue. And hello, deep south? You missed the boat big time.

NPR was talking about this last week after the election... they were asking their guest if he thought this was real change or more of a reaction to the last 8 years. They pointed out that 4 years ago after a Bush beat down of Kerry the Evil Republicans were claiming that the their big victory signaled what would become lasting change towards the right (they apparently were wrong). Just a thought we'll have to wait and see what happens I guess.

Definitely true that we'll have to wait and see, but to remind you it was Bush 286-252 over Kerry in electoral votes, hardly a beat-down except perhaps compared to Bush-Gore 2000. I do believe how lasting this change is depends on how well the Dems do in leading!
