Anyway, I'll steal Betsy's recap of yesterday from an email she sent:
We had a free day for the first time since we arrived. Got a late start, but went past Notre Dame and over to a small aquarium by the Luxembourg Gardens (5th arrondisement). The aquarium was founded by Prince Albert I of Monaco, who apparently had quite a passion for the topic, also founding a school of Oceanography at the same time. It's actually pretty dinky -- a couple displays, a couple fish tanks with starfish and sea anemone -- but plenty to keep the kids entertained for an hour or so.
I think the collective stress of the last week hit us all, because we were more tired out than it seemed we really deserved, so headed back and took naps in the late afternoon. The kids were getting each other all wound up, so we split up for dinner. Glennell and I had Chinese food with Carter, and Chris took Calvin to the grocery store and bakery. It worked out well, everything was much calmer with the two of them apart for a while. Tomorrow we'll find a market to do some shopping, and maybe take a boat ride on the Seine.
She was mostly right about today - we did go to the market at avenue Saxe and spent the late morning picking out yummy cheese, sausage, veggies, fruit, and sweets for our lunch and dinner. Deeee-lightful. Nabbed some bread and coffee on the way home and crashed for naps.
I'm being called to dinner now - fresh pasta with ham, cauliflower, all from the market - so I'll try to post pictures of our after-nap soccer game later.
