We made it through the day, which seems quite a large accomplishment in retrospect. We went to work Monday and yesterday, which again in retrospect was a dumb decision - we had way too much left to do at the house. So we got home around 5:30 yesterday afternon, emotionally drained from days and weeks of goodbyes to dear friends and colleagues, facing 15 hours until the movers' arrival and a house needing to be separated into: take with us, pack to air ship, pack to ship ship, and pack to store. To truncate the story, at 4 this morning we'd finished separating and organizing everywhere ... except the master bedroom and bathroom.
The movers arrived around 9 this morning. By around 1, they were done packing for both air and shipping. By 4, they'd loaded up 280 pounds in 3 boxes for air freight, and just over half of a 20' by 8' by 8' ocean-going shipping container. Amazing. See our homepage for more pics from today.
Tomorrow they return to pack for storage, then Friday to load. We've got a million other details to iron out but it's goin' ...
Oh yeah, and our beds are shipped out, so tonight Glennell is sleeping on Carter's old bed, Carter's on the floor on a camping mattress, and we are at Mike & Jenny's. And Calvin, who turns the big 4 tomorrow, is in Baltimore with Grandma ...
