Interesting fact(oid)

The boys were riding their newly rediscovered bikes around the square a couple of days ago. The building manager, M Cormier, stopped to chat on his way out. First he mentioned that really we aren't to ride around the square, noting reasonably that if every kid did it the square would be chaos. He did say he didn't mind, as we were being civil, but that if anyone else mentioned it we would have to find another place. We then got to general chatting, and I asked for whom the square is named. Turns out it's name for his great-grandfather! The namesake Theodore Judlin was an architect whose name is on many buildings in the area, and he built these buildings for himself. M Cormier's mother owns one of the four, cousins own two others, and the fourth has passed out of the family. The square is privately owned, which is why he could tell people not to ride bikes, and he ranted a bit about how people park motos and bikes in the square. Turns out he wants to put up a gate! Hmmm, then we'd live in a private cul-de-sac ... well, first time for everything! The only thing apparently stopping him/them from putting up the gate is the annoying paperwork they'd have to do, and the fact that the city would stop paying for the street lights once it's not open to the public.
